William "Bill" Ellis, III Obituary

William “Bill” St. Clair Ellis, 83, of Montgomery, AL, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, surrounded by his beloved wife, Beverly Bigger Ellis, his sons, Christian and Brent Ellis, and his seven grandchildren: Will, Emily, Hayden, Mallory, Sage, Lilly, and Sarah Ellis.

Bill was born on October 24, 1942, in Ashland, Oregon, to William St. Clair Ellis Jr. and Dorothy Cornwell Ellis.

He attended Auburn University, where he graduated in 1961. It was during his time at Auburn that he met the love of his life, Beverly, with whom he built a life rooted in love and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William St. Clair Ellis Jr. and Dorothy Cornwell Ellis, and his sister, Robin Ellis Lamoureux.

He is also survived by his beloved sister, Nina Ellis Snoddy (Bill), and his brother, Carlyle “Corky” Ellis (Jackie).

Bill was known for his kind, patient, and calming presence. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where he was deeply passionate about the respite program and the care it provided to others.

He found great joy in watching his grandchildren grow and took pride in the life and family he helped nurture. He also had a love for gardening, and his home was always surrounded by beautiful flowers—a reflection of the care and quiet dedication he showed to everything he loved.

Above all, his greatest love was his wife, Beverly, with whom he shared a deep and steady partnership that defined his life.

Bill’s life was a quiet testament to kindness, patience, and unwavering love. The world feels softer for having known him, and though he will be deeply missed, the legacy of his gentle spirit will continue to bloom in the lives of all who loved him.
