William G. Davis Jr. was born in Paducah, KY on December 23, 1928, and made a peaceful transition to his heavenly home surrounded by family on Thursday April 14, 2022.
William was the son of Rev. William G. Davis Sr. and Mae Rena (Saulsberry) Davis. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age, and was a member of Rocky Ford Missionary Baptist Church, Paducah, KY.
He enlisted in the Armed Forces following graduation from Lincoln High School. His assignments included overseas tours in Europe, Japan, and Korea. He rose through the ranks and served with the 159th Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Calvary Division, 21st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion Headquarter Company, and was an instructor with the U. S. Army Signal School Regiment.
After his military service, William served 20 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons at Maxwell Air Force Base.
William retired from the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer and made his home with his wife Jean Davis in Montgomery, AL. There they united with the Frazer United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son William M. Davis; sisters, Minnie E. Deboe, Eva M. Johnson, Clementine L. Jackson, and a brother John W. Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Jean Davis of 70 years; his son Steven A. (Josette), Davis, Miami, FL; a sister Mildred M. Noah, Louisville KY; one grandchild Justin S. Davis, Miami, FL and a host of family and friends.
