William Davis Bonham, Sr., age 64, former longtime resident of Montgomery and later of Jackson, Mississippi, passed away on September 14, 2025, surrounded by his devoted children, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 16, 1960, to John Arthur Bonham (Jack) and Ruth Davis Bonham, both now deceased. After high school he entered the U. S. Marines before returning to his hometown where he got married and started a family. He spent the next 20 years in Montgomery before moving to Jackson, Mississippi, where he gained his sobriety and established a roofing business. Through his experiences, he was instrumental in helping countless people through his active involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous for over 20 years.
William, affectionally called, “Woo,” by his grandchildren, loved his dachshunds and a crew of rescue dogs, hunting and the outdoors, a good cup of coffee, and old westerns. He leaves behind his son, William Davis Bonham,Jr., Juni (Elizabeth) and his daughter, Katherine Virginia Bonham along with his siblings, Carol Bonham Penick (George), John Bonham, Jr., (Margaret), James Bonham (Jane), Charles Bonham (Mary) and Pembroke Bonham and four grandchildren- Elizabeth Grady Bonham, John William Bonham, Davis Woods Bonham, and William Bibb Lubin as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 20th at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Montgomery with visitation one hour before at 11:00 AM.
