Teresa Richardson Obituary

Teresa Burke Richardson, 87, resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer, with family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Floyd Ronald Richardson, who we lost in 2018 after his battle with melanoma cancer. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Cyril and Alice Burke, and her brothers, Leo Burke, Kevin Burke, Cecil Burke and Harold Burke.

Teresa is survived by her son, Paul Richardson, and her daughter, Renee Richardson Baker (Jimmy Baker), her granddaughters, Ally Standerfer, Alicia Richardson and Amanda Richardson, her sisters, Mary Burke Bernardi and Elizabeth Burke Paoletto, brother Gary Burke, and so many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved so much.

Teresa was born and raised in Newfoundland, Canada, and met the love of her life at the age of 16. Floyd was from Shorter, Alabama, joined the Air Force, with his first assignment in Newfoundland, where they met as she was walking out from her church. They married when she was 21, eventually moved to Alabama, and what a love story they had.

Teresa was truly a joy to this world, an amazing wife, mother and grandmother (known as “Nanny”). She was one of the most positive, uplifting people you could have ever met. She loved her family, all of her “Newfie club”friends, was an avid gardener, loved her flowers, her koi pond, feeding the birds, and enjoying all of God’s creations.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 11th at 3:30 p.m. at Cubahatchie Baptist Church, 1060 Old Federal Road, Shorter, Alabama, with the Rev. John Ed Mathison officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Teresa will be deeply missed, and we will cherish our wonderful memories of her forever, but we can rest assured that she went home to be with the Lord and is now reunited with her husband and all her family and friends who went before her. We would like to thank all of our friends and family for all your support thru this difficult time in our lives.

As we extend our deepest condolences to you and your family during this difficult time, we would also like to express our upmost gratitude to you for entrusting us with your loved one. Magnolia Cremations & Funeral Services
