Susan Maurice Gilchrist Semler

Semler, Susan Maurice Gilchrist, born February 7, 1943 in Columbia, SC, passed away quietly in her sleep in the early mornimg hours of Saturday, October 28, 2023 after a long struggle with lung cancer.

Maurice was a graduate of Gainesville High School (Gainesville, TX) and the University of South Carolina where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. She was active in the Montgomery, AL, alumni chapter of Pi Beta Phi, Chapter Y of PEO, and the Daffodil Garden Club for many years.

She was preceeded in death by her parents William Maurice Gilchrist (Edgefield, SC) and Frances Louise Oswald, (Lexington, SC), her first husband William J. Davis II (Winnsboro, SC), and her sister Julie Gilchrist Keen (Louis Henry III, Brandon, FL). Maurice is survived by her husband of 48 years Mark Orion Semler, her daughter Brooke Ann (Vic Antonini Jr.) of Travelers Rest, SC; her Grandson Ryan Gregory Semler of Travelers Rest, SC; and her Nephew Taylor William Keen ( Abbe ) of St. Louis, MO and her Niece Amy Witt of Oldsmar, FL. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving care given to Maurice by the staff and caregivers of Answered Prayer, especially Megan Liveoak, Lasharn Williams, Dolores McDade, and Latasha James.

A reception and visitation will be held Monday, November 6, at 12:00pm at the Church of the Holy Comforter, and a memorial service will will follow at 1:00pm
