It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stancel Q. Long Jr., 80, of Montgomery, Alabama on November 25, 2024. Stan was a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather.
He was born in Montgomery, AL on February 11, 1944, and spent a lot of his childhood in Tuscaloosa County as well. He served in the United States Marine Corp and the marines took him to North Carolina, where he met and married his wife, Carolyn. They moved back to Montgomery in 1979 with their four children. He retired from the US District Courts after 30 years of service as a Court Room Bailiff.
Stan will be remembered for his love of fishing, dancing, and his unwavering commitment to his family. He enjoyed making family memories at the lake and beach. He may be most remembered for his love of Alabama Football.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Long; four children, Rene Long, Stancel Q. Long III, Mark Long (Holly), and Rudy Long; his three grandchildren, Brittney, Baylie Grace and Carter; two sisters, Pat Cobb and Donna Crooks ; and one brother, Herman Dawkins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, at 11:30am, at Eastmont Baptist Church, 4505 Atlanta Hwy. Montgomery. Room 205. Family will receive visitors beginning at 11:00am. If attending the memorial service at Eastmont, please enter through back parking lot.
