Sandra Ridgeway Christianson was born in Ware Shoals, SC. to Fred and Nelle Ridgeway. She went to Furman University and married Donald on January 05, 1968. Her and Don lived in South Carolina, Virginia and Germany during his military career. They were stationed in Montgomery, AL in 1979 and it remained their home until the present. She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Nelle Ridgeway, two brothers Jim and Jack Ridgeway, one sister Karen Harvey and her son Marcus Christianson. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Don, son Eric (Cissy), four grandkids Leigh, Joshua (Emily), Heather and Kylee, and two great-grandchildren Ruby Jo and Bowen. She is also survived by many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
“As each of you has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace” (1 Peter 4:10 ESV). Sandra used her gifts of hard work and dedication in varied jobs as a young woman and in her 30+ year career as a manager with the United States Postal Service. She used her gift of musical talent to serve her churches throughout her family’s moves and for many years at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Sandra was involved in a ministry that spanned nationally and used her experiences to love people of widely varied backgrounds and help them become their “better selves”. She served as a Spiritual Director and worked many hours in the Fruit of the Vine Food Pantry @ St Lukes. Through her works and her service, she developed many of lifelong relationships that cherished greatly.
A memorial service will be held at St Luke United Methodist Church (2518 Upper Wetumpka Rd, Montgomery) on March 28th @ 10:30am, with a visitation for one and a half hours prior. She will be placed in a columbarium at the Alabama National Veterans Cemetery (3133 Highway 119, Montevallo) @ 2:45pm the same day.
