Ruth Ransbotham Maxey

Ruth Ransbotham Maxey passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Friday, June 5, 2026.  Born on October 30, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, Ruth was the beloved daughter of Taylor James (TJ) and Margaret Ransbotham. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jimmy Ransbotham (Janie); her sisters, Ann Carter (Hank) and Jean Davidson; her parents-in-law, Torrence and Bobbie Maxey; and brother-in-law, Joe D’Angelo.

 She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Billy Maxey; her son, Stan Maxey (Laura); her daughter, Meg Wilber (Michael); and her cherished grandchildren, Ann and Carson Wilber. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Wetzel Davidson, and her sister-in-law, Martha D'Angelo, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

 After graduating from Auburn University, Ruth began her career as a teacher. She later worked for the Alabama Department of Environmental Management until her retirement.

 Family and friends will gather at a later date to celebrate her life. Memorials may be made to the Respite Ministry at First United Methodist Church of Montgomery or Wesley Church of Montgomery. The family would like to thank Cynthia Cranford for her devotion and loving care over the last year.
