MAHONE, Sr., Nathaniel heard the voice of his Lord and Savior say well done my good and faithful servant, come on in.  On Friday, March 25, 2022, in a rehab facility in Woodmere, New York, Nathaniel taken his final flight.  Nathaniel was the fifth child born to the late Lazarus Mahone and Lucille Foster Mahone in Pike County, Alabama.

     Nathaniel accepted God as his Lord and Savior and joined Macedonia CME Church at an early age in Ansley, Alabama.  He attended Roger Elementary School, and Goshen High School both in Pike County.  Later, Nathaniel and his brother Willie moved to Montgomery with their uncle and aunt, Jacob and Jennie Mae (Aunt Sim) Mahone.  After residing in Montgomery for awhile, Nathaniel and three of his brothers left Alabama and relocated to New York with their aunt, Gertrude Mitchell.  During his residency in New York, Nathaniel worked for Pan America Airline as a Service Worker.  He was a long term member of Bethel Mission Church in Jamaica, NY where he was appointed Deacon.  He later started working for the New York City’s School System as a mechanic where he remained employed until he retired. Nat loved fishing, discussing the bible, spending time with family, and building race cars for friends.  He was known for his infamous RED and WHITE CADILLAC.  His first born, Nathaniel “Junie” Mahone, Jr. was the blessing from the union to Doris Merritt.  He was also blessed with two daughters, Aja Hall and Rasheida Renee Mahone.  Nathaniel later married the love of his life, Dessie Fuller. They were joined as one on January 08, 2000, in Goshen, Alabama.

     Nathaniel is preceded in death by one great grandchild, Jimiyu LaMarcus Patterson; his parents, Lazarus and Lucille Mahone; two sisters, Martha McKinnon and Mary Teague; and two brothers, Jeremiah and Jereldine Mahone.

     Nathaniel leaves to cherish his loving memory wife, Dessie F. Mahone of 22 years; one son, Nathaniel “Junie” Mahone, Jr. of  New Jersey; two daughters, Aja Nickeya (Wayne, Sr.) Payton of Jacksonville, FL, and Rasheida Renee Mahone of Jamaica, NY; one step-daughter, Cynthia Townsend of Detroit, MI; ten grandchildren, Jerrica Lat’trice, Jenise La’vey, Jemette Lekeisha Mahone, all of Fayetteville, NC, Alexis Petty of New York, Danion Thomas, Courtnye Porter, Melanie Hall, Wayne Payton, Jr., all of Jacksonville, FL, Jazelle Reign, and Journee Reignee Robinson, both of Jamaica, NY; four great grandchildren, Kevin Kingston, Jr., Kennedy Mischelle King, Janae Aubrey Ray, and Michaela Jeanelle Mooring, all of Fayetteville, NC; three brothers, Willie James (Melissa) Mahone, Sr., Jacob (Mary Lois) Mahone, Sr., both of Troy, AL, and Charles Thomas (Rosa) Mahone, Sr., of Montgomery, AL; four sisters, Mary Dean Mahone of Luverne, AL, Brenda Berry, Lynda (Willie) McGuire, both of Troy, AL, and Diane (Dauris Sanchez) Shipmon of Stockbridge, GA; six brother in laws, Jimmy Dixon, Robert Teague, Jr., both of Troy, AL, Ronnie Kenney of New Jersey, Alphonsa Williams of Virginia, John (Virginia) Dixon of Ohio, and Dexter Adams of Ft Lauderdale, FL; three sister in laws, Dorothy Foster, Carol Flowers, both of Troy, AL, and Dean Fuller of Michigan; one special and devoted cousin, Stanley (Ruby) Salisbury of Jamaica, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be Friday, April 15, 2022, at 11:00am, Rockwest Missionary Baptist Church, US Highway 29, Goshen, Alabama 36035.  Interment will follow at Macedonia CME Church Cemetery, 1487 County Road 1135, Goshen, Alabama 36035. Visitation will Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Magnolia Cremations & Funeral Services Chapel.
