Nathaniel “Tootie” Dabney-Jackson, 61, passed away on July 14, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He spent his final days surrounded by family. Born September 24, 1963, in Montgomery, Tootie was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, godfather, and friend. He attended Sidney Lanier High School and was known for his hardworking spirit, sharp wit, and ability to light up any room with laughter. Tootie had a gift for fixing things and took pride in staying busy. He loved being around people and was the life of every cookout or celebration, bringing joy, jokes, and dominoes everywhere he went. A proud fan of both the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Dallas Cowboys, he never missed a chance to talk a little trash during football season. His presence meant good energy and unforgettable moments. Though he had no children, he helped raise his nieces and nephews with love and guidance, often like a second father. Deeply protective, especially of the women in his family, Tootie made those around him feel safe and cherished. He also extended his care beyond family, traveling to Texas to help with storm relief efforts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Loretta Jackson; his brother, Timothy Jackson; best friends Eddie B. Washington and James Jackson; nephews Raymon Jackson and Cornelius Hall; his grandmother, Gracie Mae Evans, and grandfather Jimmy Cato Jackson.
Tootie is survived by his loving siblings: Clarrisa Munford (James), Lucresia Lawson (Demetrius), Sabrina Jackson, Tara Jackson, Raymond Jackson Jr. (Deangula), Neal Jackson, and Samuel Jackson; his goddaughter, Adwowa Jackson; longtime friend, Andrew Sellers; and a large extended family who adored him. A heartfelt thanks to the McClain and Walters families for their love and support. Tootie was real. He was strong. He was ours. His laughter, loyalty, and love left a lasting imprint that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives.
As we extend our deepest condolences to you and your family during this difficult time, we would also like to express our utmost gratitude to you for entrusting us with your loved one. Magnolia Cremations & Funeral Services.
