Mary Elizabeth Lowry Turnipseed, age 81, a longtime resident of Montgomery, Alabama passed on to her heavenly Home on November 26th, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, Mary and Eldred Morgan Lowry. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Conrad Maurice Turnipseed, two children, her son, Maurice Morgan Turnipseed (Sheri), daughter Marylyn Elizabeth Turnipseed, and precious twin granddaughters Addyson Reese and Blayklee Rose Turnipseed. Also survived by nieces Katherine Elaine Lukins, Elizabeth Carolyn Davis, and nephew, Sam Turnipseed.
Mary Elizabeth “Liz “was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, class of 1962, and Huntingdon College, earning a degree in Early Childhood Education. She lovingly taught Kindergarten and 1st grade for many years in Montgomery, enriching the lives of countless children, which was truly her passion throughout her life. She grew up at First United Methodist Church, was an enthusiastic longtime member of Altrusa International , Montgomery Chapter, where she thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at local elementary schools, alongside many cherished friends. In the Fall, always her favorite time of year, you would find Liz gleefully cheering for the Auburn Tigers! Truly, Liz‘s heart’s desire was the happiness and well-being of her beloved children, grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends. Her effervescent personality, deep sense of compassion, and hilarious natural wit defined her, and was a bright light for all who knew and loved her!
A Celebration of Life to honor Mary Elizabeth will be held on Sunday, December 7th, 2025 at: First United Methodist Church, 2416 West Cloverdale Park, Montgomery, AL 36106, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.
