Mary Jane Shepard, age 70, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026.  Jane was born on November 17, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama. She retired from her career with the State of Alabama and cherished time spent with her family and friends. She especially loved being with her daughter, Christi, and her grandchildren, who were truly the center of her world.

She had a gift for bringing joy to those around her and was known as the life of the party. Jane treasured her friendships, including her dear friend of 40 years, Cathy Calhoun. Above all, she loved deeply and lived fully.

Jane was married to the love of her life, Donnie Shepard, for 50 years.

She is survived by her husband, Donnie Shepard; her daughter, Christi Wilhoit (Kenny Wilhoit); her grandchildren, Avery Jane Wilhoit and Kade Allen Wilhoit; and her siblings, Sandra Duvall (Mike Duvall), Janet Moore, Randy Willis (Lisa Willis), and Sherry Willis Perdue (Johnny Perdue). She is also survived by one niece and five nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Elizabeth Willis and Lawrence O’Neal Willis.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Vaughn Forest Church, 8660 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, Alabama.
