Martha McKinnon Obituary

McKINNON, Martha “Moot” was born to the late Lazarus Mahone and Lucille Foster Mahone on February 11, 1945 in Pike County, Alabama.   She was the third of nine children born into this union.   She attended Pike County School System.   At an early age she confessed to Christ and joined Macedonia Church in Ansley, Alabama.

On July 26, 1962, she was united in Holy Matrimony to James Lee McKinnon in Troy, Alabama.   In 1967, they relocated to Montgomery, Alabama where she was a homemaker and a caregiver.  There were seven children born into this union.

After relocating to Montgomery she attended St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where she stayed a faithful member until 1997.   After studying the Lord’s  word,   she was added to His Church at Holt Street Church of Christ.   She later relocated to Southside Church of Christ where she remained a faithful member until the Lord called her home.

Martha “Moot” McKinnon departed this life on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.   She was preceded in death by:  one daughter, Martha McKinnon;   father,  Lazarus Mahone;   mother, Lucille Foster Mahone; two brothers, Jeremiah Mahone, and Jeraldine Mahone;   and one sister, Mary Mahone Teague.

She leaves to cherish her memories:  five sons, Marvin (JoAnn) McKinnon, James Lee (Georgia) McKinnon, Jr., Larry McKinnon, and Brady Lee (Juanita) McKinnon, all of Montgomery, AL, Tommy Lee McKinnon of Atmore, AL;  one daughter, Patricia Ann McKinnon of Montgomery, AL;  nine grandchildren,  Sophia McKinnon of Illinois, Desmond McKinnon of Montgomery, AL, Jessica McKinnon,  and Brandon McKinnon, both of Virginia, Stanley Lockley, Deltrick Lockley, Marvin McKinnon, Are’yana McKinnon, and Breyonna Leigh McKinnon, all of Montgomery, AL;  five great-grandchildren;  four brothers,  Nathaniel (Diessie)Mahone, Sr. of Queens, NY, Willie (Melissa)Mahone, Sr., Jacob (Mary Lois) Mahone, Sr., both of Troy, AL, and Charles Thomas (Rosa) Mahone, Sr. of Montgomery, AL;  four sisters, Mary Dean Mahone of Luverne, AL, Brenda Berry, and Linda (Willie) McGuire, both of Troy, AL, Diane (Dauris Sanchez) Shipmon of Stockbridge, GA;  one brother in law, Robert Teague, Jr. of Troy, AL;  and a host of devoted nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
