Martha Joyce Davidson

Martha Joyce Blankenship Davidson, 85, a resident of Montgomery, formerly of Birmingham, passed away May 21, 2023.  She was born in Alexander City, Alabama to PY Smith and Vester Van Buren Blankenship on August 13, 1937.  She graduated from Benjamin Russell High School and after marriage, moved to Birmingham, Alabama where she raised her two sons.  After her retirement from the Birmingham Board of Education she moved to Montgomery to be closer to her family.  She became and active member of First Baptist Church and a volunteer in the Caring Center at First Baptist Church as well as a volunteer for the Cancer Wellness Foundation at the Montgomery Cancer Center.  She is survived by her sons, Michael Davidson (Cathi) and Stephen Davidson (Suzanne); grandchildren, Abbie Davidson Givens (Wade), Joanna Davidson Gilbertsen (Chris), Wyatt Davidson and Lela Davidson; great-grandchildren Lexi Grace Givens and Drew Givens. Mrs. Davidson was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Dean Blankenship and Bill Blankenship.  Visitation will be held Monday, May 22, 2023 at 10 am in the First Baptist Church of Montgomery Parlor (enter the church offices entrance on the Scott Street side of building).  A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11 am in the Stakely Sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Montgomery.  Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Laurel Cemetery, 297 Parks Avenue, Alexander City, Alabama, 35010.

Pall Bearers will be Brent Barranco, Chris Blackerby, Tony Brown, Wyatt Davidson, Chris Gilbertsen and Wade Givens.
