Maria Annette Piazza Guillot, 66, a resident of Montgomery, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 17, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Piazza. She is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years, Joe Guillot of Montgomery; daughters, Michelle Guillot Rice (Marty) of Duluth, MN and Christine Guillot Slaten (Mike) of Madison, AL; grandchildren, Parker and Skylar Rhodes, and Oran Slaten; and her brothers, John Wayne Piazza (Diane), Kenneth Piazza (Tina), and Barry Piazza. Maria was a devoted military spouse, who selflessly followed Joe around the country during his Air Force career. She provided love and support throughout his military and legal careers. She raised their two daughters to become fine young women and mothers; she loved, and was always proud of Michelle and Christine. Special thanks to friends who helped during Maria’s final illness: Judy Letford, Carole Browning, Nancy Corley, Jean Scholl, Gail Cotney, Kris Adair and Emily Pebworth. The family appreciates all of the friends and family who reached out to us during this difficult time. We thank the ministers at Aldersgate Methodist Church for their kindness and compassion throughout Maria’s illness. Also special thanks to the staff and physicians at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery for the care and compassion they showed Maria in her final days. Visitation will be held at Aldersgate on Saturday, April 24 at 10:00 am, followed by a memorial service in the sanctuary at 11:00 am. Reverend Dr. Brian Miller and Reverend Steve Badskey officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church or the Montgomery Area Council on Aging.
