Margaret Dorothy Merrikin Payne

Margaret Dorothy Merrikin Payne, 92, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away at her home, Thursday, August 22, 2024.  She was born April 18, 1932 in London, England.

She is preceded in death by the father of her children, Phillip Jackson Payne, her parents, Charles Merrikin and Elizabeth Hudson Merrikin Vickery, her brother, Raymond Peter Merrikin and her sister, Anne Goddard.

Those who remain to celebrate and cherish the memory of Margaret are her children, Phillip George Payne (Mary), Sharon Ann Payne, her grandchildren Michael James Ritch (Ellen), Phillip Mitchel Payne, her great-grandchildren, Eli James Ritch, Clara Marie Ritch, Ethan Henry Ritch, and numerous nieces and nephews.

At one time, Margaret was the owner of David’s Den Hair Salon and was employed by multiple beauty salons in Montgomery as well as Club Systems at Maxwell and Gunter Air Force Bases.  She was a member of Frazer Freedom Methodist Church.

A Celebration of Margaret’s life will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 11:00 at Frazer Church Chapel.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

Donations can be made in Margaret’s memorial to your favorite charity.
