Margaret Joan Byard

Joan Mann Byard, 82, of Prattville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 5, 2024. Independent and active until her final days, Joan enjoyed bridge groups and a close-knit circle of friends. Prior to her retirement, she had a successful career in advertising in the River Region. She was born on January 25, 1942, in Alexander City, Alabama, to Herod and Lanay Mann. She is survived by her sons, Jim Byard, Jr., and his wife Beverly; and Jeff C. Byard and his wife Sara, both of Prattville; her grandchildren, Marylise Bridges, Brooke Byard, Kate Byard, Caroline Byard, James Byard III, Richard Byard and Zoë Byard, all of Prattville; her brother Rev. John Mann, Jr., and his wife Barbara Jo of Dadeville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Joe C. Mann.

Her funeral service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, in Prattville, on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11 AM. The family will receive friends at the Church from 9 -11 AM, prior to the service. A private committal will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (178 E. 4th Street, Prattville, AL 36067) or to one’s favorite charity.
