Margaret Baloy

Margaret Ida Baloy (nee Franson) passed away on November 21 in Dadeville, AL. She was 87.  Born in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, she was a graduate of Fort Hamilton High School. She met her husband, Tom, on a blind date at a roller rink and they spent the next 63 years together. They raised six children, first in the metro area and then in the Catskills. She and Tom retired to Alabama in 2000.

Family was at the center of Marge’s life, though her other passions were singing, arts and crafts, and classic movies. Known for her fine soprano, quips, and big laugh, she was always willing to serve as den mother, costume sewer, and kid feeder. She delighted in making the holidays special and adored Christmas caroling with local friends. While her primary career was as a mother, she also worked in administration and Human Resources for several companies including Sullivan Arc and Arrowhead Composites.

While she took pride in her resilience and resourcefulness, she was always most proud of her family.

Marge was predeceased by her husband, Tom, her three siblings, and four nephews.

She is survived by children Elizabeth Bullock (Chris), Douglas (Jay Herring), Adam (Barbara), Andrew, Christopher (Katie), and Mikki (Rob McMahon), as well as ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a small memorial in the New Year.
