Mark Ratliff, of Prattville, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. He was 65 years old.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Eugene Ratliff.
He is survived by his loving mother, Maurine Ratliff; his children, Brandon Forsee and Molly Ratliff; his sisters, Kandy (Randy) Greenlee and Nancy (Rob) Shackelford; and his brothers, Paul (Trish) Ratliff and Billy (Jenny) Ratliff.
He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews: Kelsi Greenlee, Steven (Ashley) Greenlee, Houston (Aleigha) Ratliff, Holly (Brayden) Hawk, Will (Alex) Shackelford, Raegan (Jacob) Jacks, Reid Shackelford, Daegan Ratliff, Seth Ratliff, and Trace Ratliff. He also had two great-nephews and five great-nieces.
Mark was formerly employed by the Alabama Department of Transportation prior to becoming disabled due to diabetes and kidney disease.
Mark was a member of Seasons Church and had a love for ministry. Over the years, he participated in several ministries, including traveling with Mylon LeFevre and the Christian rock band Broken Heart in the 1980s. Mylon LeFevre wrote the song “Without Him,” recorded by Elvis Presley, and later earned a Grammy Award for the album Crack the Sky. Mark served with local food pantry outreach efforts and helped feed the homeless and those in need in the Montgomery area.
As a young adult, Mark also shared his creativity and heart for ministry through puppeteering with the puppet ministry at Camellia Baptist Church, bringing joy, laughter, and encouragement to many.
Mark will be remembered for his generous spirit, witty sense of humor, and love for family and friends. He was almost always wearing a T-shirt with a witty saying or a message about Jesus. He loved playing games, listening to classic ’70s music, and contemporary Christian music. Mark’s spiritual journey was filled with both mountains and valleys as a sinner saved by grace. His life touched many, and he will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Mark’s life will be celebrated on May 31, 2026, at Seasons Church in Prattville. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m., with the service following at 4:00 p.m. There will be no graveside service.
Pallbearers will be his nephews previously named among his survivors.
