Lillian Crew Henry Atchley, age 69, of Pintlala, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2021 at Crowne Healthcare of Montgomery. Having graduated from Valley Forge Christian College, she loved being caring for all people. Lilly taught Special Education at several local schools; she specialized in interpretation for the deaf; worked in a nursing home and also in a hospice care facility. She inherited her father’s dry Welsh sense of humor. She had a contagious smile. She loved people and saw the best in them. She always saw the silver lining in the dark clouds.
Lilly loved her church family at Pintlala Baptist Church. Before moving into Crowne Healthcare, she sang in the choir, was active in the Lydia-Ruth Sunday School class and in the ladies Bible Study.
Lilly is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Harriet and William Crew of Pennsylvania. Her sister, Evie Persia of Florida. Her brother, Bill Crew of Florida.
Lilly found love unexpectedly late in life at Crowne Healthcare. She and Ed Atchley were married in 2018. They were the Valentine’s Day King and Queen of Crowne Healthcare in 2019. He lit up her life quickly and brought her so much joy. He left her a widow much too soon.
She is survived by her devoted son, Phillip Wesley Henry, Jr. Her brother George Crew (Fran) of North Carolina, Cliff Crew (Esther) of Florida, Jack Crew (Rodli) of California. And her beloved nieces, Renee Hackett of Florida and Christina Brown of Pennsylvania and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Pintlala Baptist Church, 73 Federal Road, Hope Hull, AL 36043. Visitation will be one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pintlala Baptist Church, or the charity of your choice.
