Leigh Sander Huntley

Leigh Sanders Huntley, born on February 28, 1977, passed away on December 06, 2024, at Baptist Hospital after courageously battling kidney failure. She was 47 years old.

Leigh is survived by her beloved son, Alexander Huntley, who is eight years old, her brother Earl (Henry) Sanders, and her parents, James and Linda Sanders. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Huntley, who passed away on June 13, 2024, after battling stage four cancer.

A womanof grace and kindness, Leigh was known for her gentle spirit and bright mind. She was a cheerleader at PeeWee Football through Junior High School. She graduated from Lee High School with honors. She was the first female on the Robert E Lee golf team. After high school, she pursued higher education at the University of Alabama, University of Colorado, Auburn University of Montgomery and received her BS at Troy University of Montgomery with Honors. She then went to the Jones School of Law, where she was best in class for Oral Orator, earning her Law Degree with Honors. Unfortunately, her health began to decline just as she received her license to practice law.

Upon graduation she was employed by the State of Alabama with various departments which included: Department of Agriculture with the Compliance Division, Ethics Commission, ABC Board and the Department of Public Health and for several bureaus.

She was a source of pride and admiration for her many accomplishments and has helpful to her parents in so many areas.

The Family is thankful to the staff of Baptist Medical Center; especially in the ER, the hospital Chaplains and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.

There will be no funeral service at this time, as per the family's wishes. Leigh's memory will be cherished by all who knew her and she will be missed very much. Comfort is brought knowing she is now with her Savior, Jesus, free from suffering and the pain of illness.

The family finds solace in Leigh's peace but requests your prayers for her son, Alexander, as he navigates the profound loss of both parents within such a short span of time.
