Lady Studstill Obituary

Lady Claire Davidson Studstill has a new Home today as she joined her family and friends who have gone before her to God’s Heaven.

Lady Claire grew up in Cullman, Alabama, the daughter of Tarpley Mabrey and Inez Nunnely Davidson. She was a talented musician, playing the piano and baritone saxophone in high school.

After graduation from Cullman High School, Lady Claire enrolled at Huntingdon College in Montgomery as a music major. She was talented in playing the  piano and violin at Huntingdon College. During the latter part of her sophomore year at Huntingdon, Lady Claire met Zack Studstill on a blind date. It was love at first sight for both. They were engaged two years later and married in August of 1960, just before Zack began his first year in dental school in Birmingham at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.

After dental school, Lady Claire influenced Zack to setup practice in Montgomery. As usual, her advice turned out well. She was a smart, wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, always putting family first.

A life-long Christian, Lady Claire was a member of the Christian Women’s Club of Montgomery, co-taught with Zack, a Young Singles Sunday School Class, and a Young Couples Sunday School Class at Frazer Church. Lady Claire provided snacks,  warmth, and co-taught a weekly Bible Study in their home for these young Christians growing in their faith..

Lady Claire loved to sew for her family using her Elna sewing machine. A  talented seamstress, she made Christening Gowns for her children and grandchildren. She shared her love of sewing  with others by teaching French Hand Sewing.

Once her daughters, Laura and Julie were young  women, Lady Claire followed her second vocation by becoming  a realtor with Ballard  Realty and then with Keller Williams Realty. She loved showing and selling homes and had a very successful real estate career.

Jesus said that in His Father’s House there were many Mansions and that He would prepare a place for those who professed their faith in Him. Lady Claire is now in her Heavenly Mansion  that Jesus has prepared for His good and faithful servant, Lady Claire.

Lady Claire is survived by her husband, Zack Studstill, daughters, Laura Moorhead (Jack) and Julie Studstill, granddaughters, Mary Claire Willis  (Cody), Anne Morgan Moorhead, Jemma Broxson and great grandson, Brooks Willis.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 and visitation will be one hour prior to service.  Donations to her memory may be made to Frazer Free Methodist Church, 6000 Atlanta Highway 36117 or to Huntingdon College, 1500 Fairview Ave. Montgomery, AL. 36106.
