LOFTON~AUSTIN, Kwanais a resident of Montgomery, Alabama passed away Monday, February 09, 2026 in a local hospital.  Kawanais T. Lofton-Austin was born on August 1, 2000, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Precious Jewel Lofton and Teriyaki Austin Sr. From the very beginning, he was deeply loved by both of his parents, who each played an important and meaningful role in his life. 

Kawanais was primarily raised by both parents in which they surrounded him with love, care, and support. He shared a strong and special bond with both parents. They were intentional about spending quality time with him and ensured that Kawanais built close relationships with his siblings on both sides of his family.

Blessed with many brothers and sisters, Kawanais cherished his siblings dearly and valued the connection they shared. His parents worked together to guide, support, and encourage him throughout his upbringing, especially as he transitioned into adulthood.

Kawanais proudly graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 2018, marking an important milestone in his life and a testament to the love and dedication of his family. When he moved out on his own, he acquired a job that helped him to become motivated about working.

Kawanais took great pride in his work and truly loved his job, as it allowed him to be independent and responsibly care for his own obligations. He was especially proud of being able to stand on his own and handle his responsibilities with confidence.

Kawanais will always be remembered for his bright and vivacious smile. No matter the circumstances or challenges he faced, he carried himself with warmth and positivity. Even during difficult times, he continued to smile. His joyful spirit was felt by everyone around him, and simply being in his presence brought happiness to others.

On Monday, February 9, 2026, Kawanais transitioned from his life to eternal rest with his Lord and Savior. He was proceeded in death by his grandmother ( Willie Mae Lofton), grandmother (Carrie Austin), uncle (Marcus Austin), brother (Terrion Austin).

He leaves in loving memory of his parents: Precious Jewel Lofton and Mr. Teriyaki (Latoya) Austin Sr., Great Grandmother, Bessie Manzy, Sisters: Antania Williams, Terrineshia Austin, Ta’Nasaki Nelson, Terrianna Austin, Moriyah Austin, Carriana Austin, Malaysia Austin, Brothers: Derrick Williams, Kedarius Cash Williams, Terriyaki Johnson, Terriyaki Austin Jr., Ja’kobis Nelson Sr., Jaquarie Johnson, Aunts: Charlotte Williams, Arlene Adams, Dr, Dorthy Manzy, Monica Austin, Sheryl Vaughn, Cassandra Austin, Kimberly Washington, Glinda Michael) Sanders, Kavonda (Gerald) Lawson, Uncles: Carlos (Laquanda). Austin, Denardo Anderson, Paul Lofton, Jerry(Charlotte) Manzy, Sherman(Trina) Manzy, Preston Manzy, Kelvin Anderson., Cousins: Aaron Williams, Stacy Williams, Devochee Lofton, Arlese Adams, Tamese Adams, Latariyetta Lofton, Ja’Ny Lofton, Ladon Jackson Nieces: Autumn Johnson, Skylar Johnson, Cali Johnson, Kayzleigh Williams, Nephews: DeShawn Johnson, Jakobis Nelson Jr., Ke’Mair Williams. He also has a host of more nieces, nephews, and caring friends who were like family. 

  Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026 ~ 1:00pm at Magnolia Cremations & Funeral Sesrvices, 901 South McDonough Street, Montgomery, Alabama 36104.  Burial will follow at Kindle Cemetery, Ashley Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36108.  Visitation will be Friday, February 20, 2026 ~ 8:30am to 6:00pm, 901 South McDonough Street, Montgomery, Alabama 36104.
