Mr. Johnny Lee Davenport and many knew him as “Manson”, was born December 7,1945 to the late Aaron & Alice Davenport Sr. of Montgomery, Alabama, who also preceded him in death.
On Wednesday May 8,2024, Johnny completed his journey here and went on to be with the Lord and Savior. Johnny confessed Christ at an early age and later joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member until his failing health prevented him from being an active member.
Johnny was a hard and dedicated worker; he became an employee of Gayfers Warehouse at the age of 16 in the year of 1963 where he climbed the ladder from a warehouse worker to a head supervisor. Johnny retired from Gayfers once the doors closed in 1998. After retirement, Johnny decided that his hard work and dedication could still be used in other places. In 1999 Johnny decided to seek employment with Walmart super center in Prattville, AL. This was Johnny’s last place of employment until his health started to fail. Johnny never gained a family of his own however, with the host of nieces and nephews he was elated to call them his own.
Johnny leaves to cherish his memories to 4 brothers Aaron Jr (Norma) Davenport, Nathaniel (Brenda) Davenport, Larry Davenport Sr, Joe Nathan Davenport all of Montgomery, AL 5 sisters Jeanita (Jackie, Sr.) Sumpter (Caretaker), Angelia (Kenny) Riley, Yevett Sankey all of Montgomery, AL and Rosa M.
