Joann Steele Walker was born on August 4,1951 in Prattville,Al to the late Sammie Mae Reese and Jim Morris, who raised her with love, strength, and unwavering support. From a young age, she displayed a vibrant spirit, a kind heart, and a natural ability to bring joy to those around her.
Whether it was her infectious laughter, her caring nature, or her ability to turn any moment into a cherished memory, she was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She attended Carver High School, where she excelled academically and built lifelong friendships. A hardworking and ambitious individual, she pursued a career in housekeeping, where her dedication and passion left a lasting impact on everyone she made contact with. She was deeply committed to her work, always striving to make a difference and leave a positive mark on the world.
Beyond her professional achievements, Joann was a woman of many passions. She found joy in dancing,cooking,fishing,spending time with family and friends but most importantly praising God.
More than anything, Joann was devoted to her family and friends. She cherished her relationships and was a source of strength, laughter, and unwavering support to those who needed her. Her love knew no bounds, and she took great pride in welcoming others into her family.
She leaves to cherish her brothers Matt Reese,Willie C. Reese,Willie F. Reese of Montgomery,Al and Michael(Jackie)Reese of Greenville,Al. One son James(Timeka)Walker. Daughters Teresa Foxhall,Laquanda(Carlos)Austin, Tammie(Nicholas)Walker,Cassandra(Tisha)Walker,and Kavondra(Keyon) Riley all of Montgomery,Al. Her grandchildren Quatisha,Lakesiaha,and Andrea Watkins,Katrice Walker,Angel Moses,Terrineshia Austin,Ronrico Walker,Jemal Swain,Tylana Johnson,Jemaine Swain,Isaiah Walker,Jasmin Swain,Jeremiah Walker,Courtney Johnson,LD Milner,Derrick Williams,Shy’asia Austin,CJ Austin,Olivia and Tristian Johnson all of Montgomery,Al. Great grandchildren Rahiem Walker,Summer Riley,Sha’riya Watkins,Levi Tucker,Patreana Delbridge,Devin Watkins,Rico Gibson,Ri’leia Jackson,Malani Moses,Princeton Walker,Kyler Pettus,and Royalty Walker all of Montgomery,Al. Devoted friends Diane Cottingham,and Opal Paris,and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026 ~ 12:30pm at St. Stephens Baptist Church, 1609 Withers Street, Montgomery, Alabama 36104. Burial will follow at Kindle Memorial Cemetery, 3335 Ashley Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36108. Visitation will be Friday, February 27, 2026 ~ 8:30am to 6:00pm at Magnolia Cremations & Funeral Services, 901 South McDoinough Street, Montgomery, Alabama 36104.
