James McGalliard Obituary

James Allen McGalliard was born February 24, 1957, in Clanton, Al and passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2026, at 69 years old. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a community that will miss his familiar presence.

James was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and soon-to-be great-grandfather whose greatest pride in life was his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Marcus McGalliard. He is survived by his three children Rick McGalliard and significant other Samantha Ramundo, Jennafer (Ronnie) Smith, and Katie (Billy) Hill. He also leaves behind his beloved mother, Florine McGalliard and his beloved siblings, Randall (Frankie) McGalliard, Curtis (Charlotte) McGalliard, and Wanda (Greg) Clark and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that brought him great joy.

James was a proud grandfather to Shaelyn Wheelock, Anthony McGalliard, Alexis Smith, Laura McGalliard, Brayden Hill, Brooklyn Hill, Taylor Smith, Ryleigh Smith, James Thomas McGalliard, Reighny Hill, and Brodie Smith. He was especially excited to soon welcome his unborn great-grandson Kolsen McMillan, a blessing he spoke of with pride.

James spent much of his life working as a welder, a trade that reflected his strong work ethic and hands-on nature. When he was not working, you could usually find him doing what he loved most: hunting, fishing, or spending time with his family. He appreciated the simple things in life and the quiet moments that meant the most.

Many will remember James for a small but meaningful daily tradition. If you happened to pass by his home, chances are you saw him sitting on his front porch, always ready with a friendly wave. It did not matter if he knew you well or not; you could count on that wave. It was just his way of saying the world is still a friendly place.

Though his passing was unexpected, the memories he leaves behind are filled with laughter, stories, and the kind of love that only a devoted father and grandfather can give. His family finds comfort knowing that his legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the values he passed down, and the many lives he touched in his own quiet way.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 11, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Indian Grave Baptist Church in Billingsley, Al. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor his life, share memories, and celebrate the man they were blessed to know.
