Jack W Wallace

WALLACE, Jr., Jack W. a resident of Montgomery, Alabama passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026, in a local hospital.

Born in San Diego, California in 1952, Jack was quickly moved to Alabama where he would reside for the rest of his life. He was raised in Clayton by parents Jack Sr and Betty. After a youth spent in Barbour County, Jack made his way to Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama - a school he deeply loved - where he made many life-long friends at the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He graduated in 1974 and followed in his father’s footsteps to practice law and become an attorney. This career would span the rest of his professional life until he retired. 

Jack loved books, talking politics, and to travel. Thanks to his time in the Army National Guard he was able to travel the world to places like Germany, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Romania, and the Dominican Republic, as well as his own personal travels to England and France.  

After retirement, Jack would “putter around” as he called it and it wasn’t uncommon to find him standing in the kitchen of his home listening to the BBC World Service into the small hours of the morning. He was an incredible cook who, at the drop of a hat, wouldn’t hesitate to cook up an entire meal for a crowd of people or spend all night smoking meat in his backyard. 

Jack is survived by his wife Janet Brumley, his children Kate (Nick) Bishop and Will Wallace, his sister Jean (Charles) Gantt, and his grandchildren and stepchildren. He will be greatly missed.
