Ida McComas McCain, a long-time resident of Montgomery, Alabama entered her eternal home in heaven on October 25, 2022, at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Katherine McComas and her former husband, Jack Valentine McCain. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Jo McCain, of Montgomery; sister-in-law Rachel Lomberger, of Atlanta, Georgia; niece Rachel Gayle McCain (Frank Genovese), of Atlanta, Georgia; nephew Walter McCain (Julie), of Hoover; and nephew Matt McCain (Shaghaiegh), of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by the children of the late Martha Pippin and their families, and special friends and caregivers, Cherry Harris and Destiny Dillard.
Ms. McCain was born on September 24, 1934, in Barboursville, West Virginia and attended Barboursville High School. She married and moved to Montgomery in 1957. She worked at the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce and then the Montgomery County Board of Education Finance Department until retirement in 1996. Ms. McCain was an active member of Whitfield Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Susie Peach Foster Sunday School Class. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and spending time at Laguna Beach, Florida. She was a good friend to all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of the life of Ida McComas McCain will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Whitfield Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 2673 Fisk Road, Montgomery, Alabama. The family will receive visitors prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Rev. Kathy Fisher and Dr. Karl K. Stegall will be officiating.
