Herbert Lee Bailey

BAILEY, Herbert Lee a resident of Montgomery, Alabama passed away Wednesday, August 04, 2021 in a local nursing facility.  Memorial service will be Saturday, August 14, 2021 - 11:00am at Magnolia Cremations & Funeral Services Chapel, 901 South McDonough Street, Montgomery, Alabama, 36104.  

Mr. Herbert Lee (Bodie) Bailey, the son of the late Lois Bailey Cook and J.C. Boswell was born on August 4, 1952 in Montgomery, Alabama. He transitioned on August 4, 2021. He accepted Christ at an early age and was educated in the Montgomery Public School System. He later became a proud member of the George Washington Carver Marching Wolverines in which he played trumpet. He was a waiter at the Sahara Restaurant for many years. Bodie was an extreme sports fan and a true die-hard Auburn fan; he was also an avid reader. He was sooo much fun to be around with his comical statements and gestures. Bodie was a local “fashion icon” in his day with many of whom would emulate his style. He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Hernando James (Kendra) and Herbert Wright (Mesha), two daughters, Niki Bailey Kendrick (Charles) and Kalah Hill (Sean); Fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren: A brother, Leartis Bailey (Columbia, S.C.) Two sisters, Regina Boswell, who preceded him in death, and Payton Bailey. An uncle, Kenneth Wilson; three aunts, Diane Banks, Christine Wright, and Clementine Wilson. A host of step-children, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special cousin, Patricia Williams, long time friends, Johnnie Mae Townsend and Wilma Crosby
