Florine Russell

Mrs. Florine Wilson Russell was born May 22, 1951 to the Late Eleanor and Jesse Wilson.  On Monday, July 26, 2021 Florine was surrounded by her loving children and family when she peacefully departed this life at her home after a lengthy illness.

Florine was an experienced Nursing Assistant who worked for Baptist South Medical Center.   She was proud of working diligently  for Baptist more than 16 years.  She assisted in her father’s care until his death.  Following Florine’s retirement she provided in home care for her ailing mother until her mother passed in 2016.  Florine also assisted in the care of her brother James inviting him into her home.  She loved gardening and developed quite the “green thumb” growing a collection of lovely flowers in her home garden and sharing gardening with her daughter Renee.   Florine rekindled her love of sewing and took up classes in quilting.   Not one for slowing down,  Florine began work for Sanitech until her health failed.  She proudly exhibited her love of her kids and family with that warm and bright smile known by everyone.  She was lovingly called “Flo” and enjoyed getting together with family and was always there to help.  Florine exemplified a kind heart whenever she happily opened her home to family.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children Florine Renee (Johnny) Fuller Moore, Wetumpka, Alabama; Walter James Russell and Michael Lee (Lakisha) Russell— Montgomery, Alabama. 

    She is also survived by her brother, James L.  Wilson of  Montgomery, Alabama.  Florine leaves to mourn her passing nine Grandchildren, eight Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, cousins and special friends who cherish her memory.  Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice Care during Florine’s time of illness.

 Service will be held Sunday, August 01, 2021- 1:00pm at Magnolia Cremations & Funeral Services Chapel, 901 South McDonough Street, Montgomery, Alabama, 36104.  Visitation will be Friday, July 30, 2021 9am-7pm and Saturday, July 31, 2021 9am - 5pm at Magnolia Cremations & Funeral Services.
