Elizabeth Mardelle Clogston

Elizabeth Mardelle Clogston passed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025 at the age of 94 years. She was the fourth child of five children.  Her siblings: Morton Holmes, Horace Holmes, Elsa Lee Denny and Phil Holmes, all preceded her in death.

“Mardelle” was the wife of James (“Jim”) I. Clogston, who preceded her in death, for 63 years.  Her life’s vocation as a homemaker and military wife found her traveling with the assignments her husband received.  One of those was managing a car trip from Texas to Alaska with two small children in the backseat and one on the way.  Another personal achievement was, by herself, engineering a move from Texas to Japan with three school-aged children.

While in Montgomery, AL, she busied herself with other activities.  She was a Red Cross volunteer for 19 years at Maxwell A.F.B. hospital.  “Mardelle” was also involved with Dalraida UMC as a member of United Methodist Women and the Young at Heart group.

Elizabeth “Mardelle” Clogston is survived by her three children:  Marsha Clogston of Montgomery, AL, Deborah Heller of Moorestown, NJ, and Steve Clogston of Grants Pass, OR.  She also has six grandchildren (one of which is in heaven) and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at Dalraida Global Methodist Church,3817 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama 36109
