Duane Dawson

Duane Dawson died on February 19, 2021 at the age of 83 after a brief bout with liver cancer.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley, son Douglas (Carrie) Dawson, two grandsons, Jedediah and Archer Dawson, brother Bill (Lavaughn) Dawson, sister Nancy (Lester) Wilson, brother-in-law A.C. Ellis and numerous nieces and nephews.
He retired from the navy as a master chief petty officer after twenty years of service.  He also retired from Chrysler Electronics in Huntsville, Alabama.
He was a faithful member of Frazer UMC and Basic Bible Sunday School class.  He volunteered for many years for the Roll Up Your Sleeves ministry, Meals on Wheels, and Medical Outreach Ministries.
Duane was a huge Alabama fan and enjoyed watching all sports on television.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
There will be no memorial service at this time because of the COVID pandemic.  Donations in his memory may be made to Medical Outreach Ministries, 5741 Carmichael Parkway, Montgomery, AL, 36117, or to the charity of your choice.
