Dorothy Faulk Obituary

Dorothy Barnett Faulk was the twelfth of thirteen children born to the late Sam and Betty Wilson Barnett born on June 22, 1952, in Montgomery, Alabama. As a child, she was given the nickname “Pep” to which she is still called to this day. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and continued her faith and love for God throughout her life’s journey. She loved attending church and had a vast and comprehensive understanding of the Bible.

She was raised in the Perrys Mill community in east Montgomery County. Dorothy was a member of the 1972 graduating class of Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, Alabama. After high school, she furthered her education by attending Southern Technical College where she obtained several specialized certifications in her field of study.

After matrimony, Dorothy transitioned into motherhood and God blessed her with two beautiful children, whom she loved dearly and raised with spiritual guidance. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family. Although family was very important to her, nothing brought her more joy than her role as Grandma and GranGran. Her grandchildren were the crown jewels of her life. She was always excited to see them and hear about the things they had going on in their lives.

Dorothy was cheerful and friendly to those she met and will be fondly remembered for her authentic calmness and gentle disposition. She had a sense of style for fashion, makeup, accessories, etc. She knew how to be bold and make a statement with courage and confidence. She was also clever, witty, playful and loved to laugh. She often would make up a song on the spot and sing it to you whether she was on key or not! A few of her favorite past times were playing board games, watching game shows, and debating the bible with her sister, and others. She was also a league bowler earning many trophies for individual and team recognition.

She was employed in the retail industry for many years until her health declined. Although she faced many health challenges, Dorothy never gave up hope nor did she complain. With her physical strength weakened, and afflictions falling upon her, tired and weary, Dorothy took to her bed. There patiently, and often in pain, she waited on the orders from the Lord until He called her home on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Jackson Hospital, in Montgomery, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Travis Faulk, six brothers: Sam Jr., Willie, Johnny, Jesse, James, Samuel, and four sisters: Ada, Inez, Lucille, and Lucinda. Her passing marked the end of her life on earth, but we rejoice in knowing that she is free from troubles, heartaches, and pain in eternal life.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted daughter, LaKeshia Faulk of Alabaster, AL, a daughter-in-law, Bridgette Faulk of Montgomery, AL, a granddaughter, Khaleeyah Huffman of Alabaster, AL, a grandson, Jacob Huffman of Alabaster, AL; two sisters, Ruby Barnett of Somerset, NJ, and Charity Barnett of Hartford, CT; a devoted friend, Gloria Montgomery of Montgomery, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Monday, March 17, 2025 - 11:00am at Magnolia Cremations & Funeral Services, 901 South McDonough Street, Montgomery, Alabama 36104.  Burial will follow at Carter Hill Cemetery, 6009 Old Carter Hill Road, Pike Road, Alabama 36064.
