Don K Corkran

Late in the afternoon of Friday, 10 February 2023, Don Kautz Corkran of Montgomery, Alabama, died due to complications of metastatic prostate cancer. Don was born in May of 1951 in Maryland, the second of three sons to Harold and Marjorie Corkran, who preceded him in death.

Don was a Vietnam War Veteran who served in the Army for 22 years and retired as one of the youngest people to reach the rank of Command Sergeant Major.  He then spent another nearly two decades working for Bass Anglers Sportsman Society.  Both careers were dear to his heart.

Don is most often described as a strong, loving man, dedicated to family and friends, but also a light-hearted, fun-loving person always quick to crack a joke for a laugh.  He was a consummate leader and mentor admired by all who knew him. If Don loved you, he let you know, and you never doubted it.

Don is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Carol Watford Corkran (Jeanne); his children MarJean Elizabeth Corkran and Don Kautz Corkran II, married to Sarah Slaton Corkran; adopted son, Michael Paul Hill; his beloved granddaughter, Madison Paige Corkran; and other extended family.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held in Montgomery on the afternoon of Saturday, March 18, 2023.  Please contact a member of the family for details.
