Craig McAdams Obituary

Craig L. McAdams, 85, of Montgomery passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.  Born in Oak Cliff, TX, Craig spent most of his early life in Weatherford, TX. While attending Sam Huston State University, he met Bobbie Ann Horton, and the two married soon after in 1960. Following in his father, Benjamin McAdams’s, footsteps, Craig became General Manager of McAdams Ford in Weatherford, TX before joining the Ford Motor Company as a sales engineer in their heavy truck division and moved to Pittsburg, PA. In 1971, he and his family moved to Detroit, MI before relocating once again to London, England, where Craig worked as an operations specialist for Ford of Europe from 1974–1978. Returning to Detroit, Craig continued to work for Ford as a Marketing Plans Manager before finishing his career with the company after 18 years. Craig and his wife moved to Des Moines, IA, where he joined Massey Ferguson as the VP of Retail Operations in their Combine Division. After leaving Massey Ferguson, he began his own business selling farm parts through catalogs. He returned to his love of cars, however, working for two local Ford dealers in Des Moines before joining the Stivers family. In 2012, he moved to Montgomery, AL to help Stivers rebuild their fleet business. He retired earlier this year.

In his youth, he played football at Weatherford High School and had been a Boy Scout for Troop 74. Craig was a 32nd degree Masson, a Shriner and member of the Scottish Rite. Previously a member of the Des Moines Country Club, Craig enjoyed numerous hobbies in his free time. He was an avid golfer and traveler. Always friendly and bearing a welcoming smile, Craig made friends everywhere he went, creating a running gag that he could find someone he knew no matter where he was, including in the Paris Airport. Craig was a member of Frazer Church in Montgomery, AL.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Bobbie McAdams; his two sons Kyle McAdams and his wife Jill of TX and Robert McAdams and his wife Dawn of MS; his seven grandchildren Justin, Michael, Christopher, Ashtyn, Avery, Karsyn, and Kennedy; and his five great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Lyla, Kaden, Riley, and Ryker.
