Chester Stolarczyk Obituary

Chester Paul “Chet” Stolarczyk of Montgomery, AL, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023 after a brief illness, surrounded by those who loved him. Chet was born in Utica, NY on January 28,1940 to Matilda (Rybicki) and Walter Stanley Stolarczyk. He married Linda (Head) King of Montgomery in 1964 while stationed at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL, and later served his country honorably in Vietnam. Chet joined the Air Force at the age of 19 and had a long and distinguished military career spanning 36 years, beginning with an assignment in Pforzheim Germany with the 2060th Radio Relay Squadron, and continuing with the 820th Civil Engineering Squadron, including a tour at Da Nang Air Base in Vietnam, and ending with voluntary retirement as a Supervising Master Sergeant in Avionics from the Alabama Air National Guard. Over his military career he was awarded numerous decorations and awards, including an Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and an Air Force Good Conduct Medal.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, his sisters Marcia Golik and Janice Hooper Jones, and a grandson, Alexander James-Paul Holston.

He is survived by his three daughters, Tracy King Kirk (Mark) of Little Texas, AL, Cathy Hackworth of Murrieta, CA, and Amy Holston (Mike) of Schertz, TX; six grandchildren, Katie, Sarah, and Anna Kirk, Will Hackworth, Emily Holston Klein (Zach), and Max Holston; his devoted care-giver Fannie Spencer; and his siblings Richard Stolarczyk (Ella) of Vermont and Rosemary Stolarczyk of Utica, NY. There will be a private family and friend celebration of Chet’s life at a later date with interment at a National Cemetery in Alabama. Memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice. Chet/Daddy/Grandpa lived independently in the home he loved, with minimal support, continuing to do the things he enjoyed the most: organizing all of his things (with clear labels), repairing things and tinkering with electronics, and taking care of his home and yard. He will be lovingly remembered for his gentle kindness, his ability to fix broken things, his determination to not let adversity slow him down, and his desire to not let anyone ever leave his home empty-handed
