Charles Britton Savage, 81, of Montgomery, AL passed away on May 28, 2023. Charles was born to Warren Tobin Savage, Jr. and Evelyn Britton Savage on January 17, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Walton Elizabeth Savage Skelley, Caro Louise Savage Jehle and son-in-law Elliott Ross McMahon.
A graduate of Lanier High School, Charles studied business at Washington & Lee University and Huntingdon College and earned a master’s in Business & Finance from the University of Alabama. He enlisted in the Alabama Air National Guard 115 TAC Control flight, Dothan, AL.
Charles spent his career in the banking industry, beginning at First National Bank of Montgomery (1966), retiring from Regions Bank as Vice President Business Development after 40 years in (2006). He continued his banking career with Servisfirst Bank as Vice President Business Development until retiring again in 2023.
While playing golf was his preferred activity, Charles spent much of his time leading several civic organizations including Montgomery Jaycees (1967-1976), Kiwanis Club (President, 1976), Alabama Jr. Miss Chairman (1973-1996), and many other boards and associations too numerous to count.
His love of travel by automobile led him to each of the 49 states, drives around the islands of Hawaii and the Providences of Canada multiple times and thousands of miles, never with an idea on where he would spend the next night. Reservations were not allowed on these family trips!
Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna Mac Burke Savage, son Charles Shepherd (DeAnn) Savage, daughter Burke Britton (Buck) Jehle, brother Warren Tobin (Katherine) Savage III, grandchildren Warren Walker Skelley, Della Shepherd Skelley, Shepherd Sellers Savage and Susan Francis Jehle.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 31 at 2:00 pm at First Methodist Church, Montgomery, AL. Funeral will follow at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
