Charles D Phillips, Sr.

Charles D. Phillips Sr., 79, peacefully transitioned on Saturday morning, April 4, 2026, following an extended illness. Born May 29, 1946, he was the son of William “Bill” Phillips and Katie M. Speigner.

Mr. Phillips served in the U.S. Army and completed two tours in Vietnam. He was married to Mary L. Gibbs, with whom he had two sons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Phillips.

He is survived by his granddaughter and caregiver, Ykiersia Montgomery; two sons, Anthony L. Phillips (Cynthia) and Charles D. Phillips Jr. (Esther); his grandchildren, Anthony II (TJ), Chelsea, Joshua, Haylee, and Charles D. Copeland (DJ); two sisters, Alberta Jackson and Sarah Wilson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Magnolia Cremations Funeral Services, 901 South McDonough Street, Montgomery, Alabama 36104.
