Charissa Harris Obituary

With hearts full of sorrow and love, we celebrate the beautiful life of Charissa Benita Harris, who entered this world on January 05, 1954 and peacefully departed on May 18, 2026.

Charissa was the true heart of her family — a loving mother, devoted grandmother, cherished sister, aunt and friend whose warmth and kindness touched every life she encountered. She carried herself with grace, compassion and a gentle spirit that made everyone feel welcomed and loved.

She leaves behind her beloved children, Candace (Jabari) Nix and William Milton Hancock III, who were the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves to cherish her precious memory her adored grandchildren: Natalie Benita Nix, Madison Lane Nix, Abigail Simone Nix, and James Edward Nix IV, each of whom brought endless happiness to her heart.

Charissa is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, James T. Goode, Thomas Goode, Myron Goode and Calvin Lee Harris; her sisters, Arleen Harris Caver and Gwendolyn Strickland Harris; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure the love she shared so freely.

As a homemaker, Charissa poured love into everything she did. Whether sewing with care, enjoying a good book, or simply spending time with family, she found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. Her home was a place of comfort, peace and unconditional love.

A faithful member of Big Zion AME Zion Church, Charissa lived her life rooted in faith, kindness and service to others. Her caring heart and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind — memories filled with laughter, wisdom, tenderness and love. Her legacy will continue to live on through her family and through every life she touched with her kindness.

Let us remember the love she gave so selflessly and hold tightly to the memories she created with all of us.

Rest peacefully, Charissa, You were deeply loved and you will never be forgotten.

As we extend our deepest condolences to you and your family during this difficult time, we would also like to express our utmost gratitude to you for entrusting us with your loved one. Magnolia Cremations & Funeral Services.
