Catherine "Cathy" Cherwin

Catherine (Cathy) Cherwin, born on November 28, 1946, in Manhattan, New York, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, at the age of 78.

Cathy was the beloved wife of Fred Cherwin and devoted mother to Denise Cherwin and her husband, Hal Leistman, Kelly Cherwin, and Randi Cherwin. She was the proud grandmother of Jacob Trump and Sterling Trump, and cherished sister to Lucy Monaco.

Cathy built a distinguished career in international logistics with France Telecom, where she was admired for her intelligence, professionalism, and dedication.

From an early age, Cathy was drawn to the arts, especially dance. She studied ballet, tap, and modern dance at Carnegie Hall, a passion that brought her joy throughout her life. Her creativity, grace, and love of movement reflected the elegance with which she approached all things.

Cathy will be remembered for her kind and loving nature, her nurturing spirit, and her unwavering strength. She was deeply family oriented and selfless, always putting others before herself. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the delicious aromas of her cooking, one of her greatest joys.

She was also a woman of strong spiritual faith, whose quiet wisdom and compassion touched everyone around her. Cathy often reminded her loved ones of her favorite saying:

“Where there is life, there’s hope.”

Cathy’s legacy will live on through her devoted family and many dear friends, who will forever cherish the love, laughter, and light she brought into their lives.

She will be laid to rest at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York, surrounded by those who loved her most.

She will be deeply missed and forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
