Bennie Arnold, Sr. Obituary

Bennie Jack Arnold Sr., 63, passed away at his home on April 20th, 2023. He was born October 1, 1959, to Onzell and JL Arnold, in Sylacauga, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, JL Arnold and Onzell Weathers Arnold and his brother, Gerald Lee Weathers. He is survived by his sons, Bennie Jack Arnold Jr. and Justin Ryan Arnold Sr. (Tonna); his sisters, Cynthia Arnold Mylek and Gloria Arnold Barbour; his brother, James Edward Arnold Sr. (Judy); his nieces, Melissa Renea Roberson Battles (Beau), Brittany Jade Roberson (Chris), and Jennifer Marie Arnold Champion (Brian); his nephews, James Edward Arnold Jr. (Sasha) and Matthew Barbour; his grandchildren, Justin Ryan Arnold Jr., Lucian Robert Anthony Arnold, Emalyn Marie Ezamae Arnold, Declan Flynn Maynard Arnold, and Novalyn Quorra Brena Arnold; his great nieces, Ilana, Allison, Brina, Jaci, and Lei; his great nephew, Nathan; and his faithful dog, Cookie.

Upon graduation from Woodlawn High School, Bennie joined the Air Force and fought for his country in Desert Storm. He served in the USAF for 21 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. He was a proud veteran.

Bennie had an eccentric personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation, and his laugh was infectious to everyone around him. He was always smiling and giving the biggest hugs. He was a mental health advocate and fierce lover of animals of all kinds. He absolutely cherished his grandchildren with all his heart. He was an avid Alabama football fan. Roll Tide!

Bennie was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, that loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all those who knew him.

A private viewing for immediate family only will take place on Wednesday.

His family will receive visitors for a memorial service to be held at 11 am on Friday, April 28th, 2023, at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama, 35115.

Donations in Bennie’s name can be made to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP); K9s For Warriors; Wounded Warriors Project; or your local Humane Shelter.
