Obituary
Barbara Jane Gilbert Skipper, 72, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on July 27, 2023. She was born July 22, 1951, in Montgomery, Alabama.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Skipper. Parents Lester Paul and Jewel D Gilbert. Brothers Earl Bonner Gilbert, Rufus Gilbert, Hyram Ucil Gilbert, Donald Gene Gilbert, Robert Lee Gilbert, Sr., and Chester Edward Gilbert. Sisters Elma Ray Thompson, Betty Jean Worthy and Margaret Rose Gilbert. Sister in-law Darlene Gilbert and Brother in-law Billy Joe Thompson, Sr. Nephews Billy Joe Thompson, Jr., Timothy Scott Worthy, Randy Gene Gilbert. Nieces Shari Ryals and Nikki Seamon.
She is survived by her children, Troy Lee Patterson (Kathy), Bradley “Brad” Paul Patterson, Sr., Robbie “Robin” Ramona LaPorte (Tony). Grandson that she raised as her son, Austin Lee Patterson. Grandchildren Bradley Paul Patterson, Jr., Ashley Dawn Driscoll (David), and James Dylan LaPorte. Great-grandson Isaiah Lynn Edwards. Sister in-laws Kay Gilbert and Dianne Gilbert. Nieces and nephews Christy Lynn Johnston (Johnny), Stacy Arlene Steinke (Steve), Vicky Thompson (Al), Kenny Thompson, Diane Jackson, Lisa Dunn (Robby), Robert L. Gilbert, Jr., Kyrstin Robinson (Andrew), Jackson Worthy Gilbert, Christopher Worthy, Cody Worthy, Chance Worthy. Along with a host of numerous great, great-great nephews and nieces, loving cousins, and friends.
Barbara was a loving Mother, Maw, Maw-Maw, Sister, Aunt and Daughter. She loved and missed her family dearly that passed on before her. Being the last surviving sister, she is now rejoicing in Heaven with her family, Heavenly Father and Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Perry Hill Road Baptist Church, 3909 Vista Circle, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, with Pastor Steve Nulph officiating. Family and friends be received at 2:00 p.m. service starting at 2:30 p.m.
